Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday paid tributes to veteran leader and former Minister P Janardhan Reddy on his 18th death anniversary, calling him as a visionary mass leader who shaped Hyderabad’s politics for nearly five decades. He garlanded Janardhan Reddy’s statue at Khairatabad junction and recalled his fearless commitment to public interest.
Speaking on the occasion, Rama Rao said Janardhan Reddy was a rare leader who questioned his own Congress government for the sake of the people. He remembered that the veteran leader’s struggle to bring Krishna River waters to Hyderabad, remains etched in history.
He remarked that Janardhan Reddy would have felt proud of the development and welfare initiatives undertaken in Hyderabad after the formation of Telangana under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He said the BRS government fulfilled his vision for the city’s growth and infrastructure.
Calling upon the future generation of leaders to emulate Janardhan Reddy’s dedication to public service, the BRS working president said the late leader had the distinction of serving the people till his last breath. He also lauded Janardhan Reddy’s son and former MLA Vishnuvardhan Reddy for carrying forward his father’s ideals, particularly through the development of the Jubilee Hills Peddamma Temple in line with public sentiment.
Former Ministers Ch Mallareddy and V Srinivas Goud, MLAs Mutha Gopal and Bandaru Lakshma Reddy, MLC Dasoju Shravan, Maganti Sunitha Gopinath, corporators and several party leaders attended the programme and paid their respects.
