Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao dismissed the surprise expressed by senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai over a Congress-BJP tie-up in Maharashtra, stating that it was old news in Telangana.

Responding to Sardesai’s post about the two national parties joining hands in the Ambernath municipal council, he said the development was neither unprecedented nor shocking as Telangana had witnessed similar alliances years ago.

Taking to X, Rama Rao pointed out that Congress and BJP had already formed joint Municipal Councils in two Telangana municipalities i.e. Makthal and Manikonda, nearly five years ago.

“Even now in Telangana, the State government is an unofficial joint venture of both Congress and BJP,” he remarked.

Earlier, Sardesai had posted on X that the Ambernath council alliance was likely the first instance of Congress and BJP coming together to control power and edge out the Shiv Sena. He stated that local body politics often defy conventional political equations.
