Major relief as Telangana HC stays cancellation of 2015–16 Group-II recruitment process

Hyderabad: In a major relief to candidates selected through the 2015–16 Group-II examination, the Telangana High Court on Thursday stayed the single judge order that had cancelled the entire recruitment process.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin granted interim relief while hearing a writ appeal filed by the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC). The Commission challenged the recent single judge verdict that set aside the final selection list released on October 24, 2019, after holding that the re-evaluation of Part-B answer scripts suffered from serious irregularities.


The single bench had observed that the re-evaluation exercise marked by double bubbling, use of whitener and erasures was contrary to the recommendations of the technical committee and earlier directions of the court. It had directed the TGPSC to undertake a fresh evaluation, publish a new list of eligible candidates, and complete the process within eight weeks. Questioning this decision, the TGPSC moved the Division Bench, arguing that the cancellation of the entire recruitment would unfairly affect candidates who had secured their positions after years of delay.

After hearing the submissions, the Division Bench stayed the implementation of the single judge order, providing temporary relief to the Group-II rankers.
