Malkajgiri Police recovered 1,039 lost and stolen mobile phones worth Rs 2.08 crore using the CEIR portal and returned them to owners. Citizens are urged to safeguard devices, use strong passwords, and report lost phones promptly.
Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police recovered as many as 1,039 mobile phones, worth Rs 2.08 crore, which were either lost or stolen and returned them to their owners on Thursday.
The police used Central Equipment Identity Registry (CEIR) portal facility to trace the mobile phones.
Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate special teams were formed with personnel from LB Nagar and Malkajgiri police stations and with the help of IT Cell staff, the phones were recovered using CEIR.
According to officials, while 739 mobile phones were recovered from LB Nagar limits, 300 phones were recovered from Malkajgiri limits. All this, in the span of six months.
In 2025, Malkajgiri police (earlier Rachakonda) recovered a total of 4733 mobile phones.
Police authorities have citizens to protect the valuable information stored in their mobile phones.

*Mobile devices contain personal data of the user. Properly safeguard mobile phones while traveling and moving in crowded areas.
*Offenders may use stolen mobiles for criminal activities and cybercrimes. Use strong security passwords and activate Find My Device setting.
*Backup device data from time to time to avoid loss of valuable information.
*Promptly report to police when a mobile is lost or stolen.
