Man arrested for snatching gold chain from elderly woman in Chennur
A man was arrested in Chennur town of Mancherial district for allegedly snatching a gold chain from an elderly woman. Police said the accused sold the chain for Rs 30,000 and spent the money on liquor. Investigation is under way
Mancherial: A man was arrested for allegedly snatching a gold chain from an elderly woman in Chennur town on Tuesday.
Chennur Inspector Bansilal, in a statement, said Akkala Swamy from the town was apprehended for snatching a gold chain weighing 2 tolas belonging to Godari Shanthakka from Suddala on August 29. He was detained while purchasing liquor in the town following a tip-off.
During interrogation, Swamy confessed to committing the crime as he was addicted to liquor and wanted to make a fast buck through shortcut methods. He admitted to selling the chain to a buyer in Mancherial town for Rs 30,000. He disclosed that he consumed liquor using the money he got from selling the chain.
