Nirmal: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said compensation would be extended to all the families displaced by the construction of Sadarmat barrage.
The Minister was speaking after handing over compensation cheques to the families that were evacuated following the construction of the barrage on Godavari river at Ponkal village in Mamada mandal on Wednesday. Khanapur MLA A Rekha Naik and Mudhole legislator Vittal Reddy were also present.
Indrakaran stated that compensation worth Rs 38.61 crore would be given to 487 farmers who lost their lands in the project. He said that compensation of Rs 35.52 crore had already been given to 254 evacuee farmers. The total compensation for displaced families under the project works out to Rs 74.14 crore.
Collector Musharraf Ali Faruqui said that the compensation was released to 50 farmers on Wednesday and the bank accounts of remaining beneficiaries would be credited with the compensation at the earliest. District Welfare Officer Sravanti, Mamada Tahsildar Kiranmayi and Irrigation department assistant divisional engineer Susheel Kumar were present.
