Minor girl dies by suicide, allegedly harassed by uncle
A 17-year-old girl in Kompally died by suicide, allegedly due to harassment from her paternal uncle over financial issues. Police registered a case, investigating harassment and sexual assault claims, while examining the suicide note and other evidence
Hyderabad: A 17-year-old girl died by suicide allegedly due to alleged harassment from her paternal uncle over a financial issue at her house in Kompally on Friday.
As per available information, the girl from Pochammagadda in Kompally, who was studying intermediate second year in a private college was allegedly enduring ongoing harassment from her paternal uncle.
Police say the girl, deeply disturbed by the harassment, left behind a suicide note before hanging from ceiling fan in the house.
Pet Basheerabad police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident, with officials confirming that the note and other evidence are being examined as part of the inquiry.
Police are also investigating sexual harassment allegations against the victim’s uncle and said necessary action will be taken as per the outcome of the investigation and evidence.
Three held for Rs 1.95 lakh cyber fraud
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cybercrime police arrested three men for allegedly cheating a 68-year-old man from the city and making unauthorized transactions worth Rs 1.95 lakh from his bank account.
The arrested have been identified as Mohd Moin Uddin (31), Mohd Syed Salman (21) and Mohd Hussain (32). Police said the victim lost his phone while travelling in a shared auto from Uppal to Tarnaka on September 17.
Taking advantage, the suspects tricked him into unlocking the device and later used it to transfer money through PhonePe and gaming platforms. Three mobile phones were seized from them.
Officials advised the citizens to remain cautious while travelling, verify identities before making digital payments, and immediately report cyber frauds by dialling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in.
Nigerian deported for illegal stay and drug link
Hyderabad: The Task Force (East) team nabbed a Nigerian national, Geoffrey Dozieobi Ibe (33), and deported him to his home country after confirming his illegal stay and suspected links with drug peddlers.
According to police, Geoffrey entered India illegally in 2019 through the Indo-Nepal border without a valid passport or visa. He was later found associating with drug peddlers in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Based on credible information, he was detained at Tolichowk while moving suspiciously. Though no drugs were seized from him, he failed to produce valid documents for his stay.
With the support of FRRO Hyderabad and the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), authorities verified his identity and secured an Emergency Certificate from the Nigerian Embassy to facilitate deportation.
Police said that his continued stay posed a risk of involvement in drug trafficking.
