Hyderabad: To reduce work pressure on the staff of Medical and Health Department in the State who are working as frontline warriors against the Covid-19 pandemic, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday directed officials to invite applications from about 50,000 eligible doctors who have completed MBBS across the State for joining public service on a temporary basis.

He asked the officials concerned to immediately recruit doctors, nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists and other paramedical personnel for a period of two to three months and utilise their services in Covid-19 treatment.

Besides providing them appropriate salaries, the Chief Minister said the government would give due recognition to their service by providing them additional weightage marks during recruitment into government jobs in future. He urged the young doctors as well as qualified nurses and others to come forward and serve the people during these difficult times. Hospitals at Warangal, Adilabad

At a review meeting on Covid-19 at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to immediately operationalise the super specialty hospitals at Warangal and Adilabad which are ready for inauguration. While a 250-bed super specialty hospital, a wing of MGM Hospital, was constructed on the premises of Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal, another 250-bed super specialty hospital is ready for inauguration on the premises of Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Adilabad.

The construction of both the hospitals was taken up under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).

Accordingly, Chandrashekhar Rao asked Principal Secretary for Finance K Ramakrishna Rao to release Rs 28 crore towards the State’s share for construction of these super specialty hospitals including Rs 8 crore for the hospital at MGM and Rs 20 crore for the hospital at RIMS.

He directed the officials concerned to fill about 729 vacant posts including 363 posts at Warangal hospital and another 366 posts at RIMS-Adilabad.

The Chief Minister decided that 5 kg of rice per person for two months would be distributed free for all the white ration card holders in the State. He also decided that in the wake of giving Rs 2,000 per month and 25 kg rice each to the 1.20 lakh private teachers in the State, another 80,000 private teachers would also be given the same benefit. He issued necessary instructions in this regard to the officials concerned.

The Chief Minister also enquired with the authorities about the availability of oxygen, remdesvir injections, beds and other facilities for Covid-19 patients in the State. The officials informed that there was no shortage of oxygen, remdesvir injections and all other medicines. A total of 7,393 beds are available in government hospitals, while another 2,470 oxygen beds and 600 ventilator beds were kept ready for patients. Medical teams along with medicines have been kept available at all government hospitals.

The Chief Minister directed officials to make medicines such as Remdesvir injections available in private hospitals also.

Chandrashekhar Rao suggested that the officials identify super spreaders who could amplify the impact of Covid-19 and vaccinate them in advance, to prevent further spreading of the pandemic. He asked the officials to relax the existing norms and provide vaccination to the autorickshaw drivers, cab drivers, conductors, gas and street vendors etc in the State under a special category.
