Nalgonda police crackdown on illicit drug trade
The main accused, Mohammed Khaja Waseemuddin (38), admitted to being addicted to certain drugs and turning to their illegal sale to support his habit and make money. His two accomplices, Khaja Shoaib and Sheikh Ameer, are currently absconding.

Nalgonda: In an effort to combat the misuse of medicinal drugs, the Nalgonda Police apprehended a gang involved in the illegal sale of prescription medicines. As part of an operation spearheaded by special teams, some 2,400 tablets worth Rs 25,000, a motorbike, Rs 22,000 in cash were seized along with two mobile phones and medical shop license documents.
The prime accused, Mohammed Khaja Waseemuddin (38), confessed to being addicted to certain drugs and resorting to illegal trade of the same to sustain his addiction and earn money. Two of his associates, Khaja Shoaib and Sheikh Ameer, are currently at large.
The investigation also revealed the involvement of one Manideep, a medical shop operator in Piduguralla, who allegedly provided the tablets to the accused without proper prescription documentation. The gang reportedly purchased sheets of the much sought after tablets for Rs 100 and sold them at inflated rates of Rs 180 to those in need.
Waseemuddin was caught red-handed while transporting 288 sheets of the tablets for illegal sale. Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar commended the police team’s efforts as part of “Mission Parivartan,” aimed at raising awareness among youth about the hazards of drug use.
