Niranjan Reddy blames Congress govt for decline in public health and diagnostic services

Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy has accused the Congress government of causing a severe decline in Telangana’s public health and diagnostic services. According to Reddy, routine tests are being neglected due to lack of specialists and malfunctioning equipment, worsening the state’s healthcare scenario.

Hyderabad: Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy held the Congress government responsible for the decline in public health and diagnostic services in the State. He said that due to the sheer negligence of the State government, people were being deprived of health and diagnostic services initiated by the previous BRS regime.

“This government has stooped to a level where it cannot ensure basic medical tests for the poor,” he said, demanding that tests at the T-Hub Diagnostic Centre be restored immediately and that radiologists and cardiologists be appointed without delay.

“The Telangana Health Department, which was a model for the country under KCR’s leadership, has lost its direction under Congress rule,” he said.

The BRS leader said schemes like KCR Kits and Nutrition Kits for poor women were scrapped under the Congress rule and even routine medical tests were now neglected. He pointed out that the T-Hub Diagnostic Centre at Wanaparthy, once ranked second in the State after Sircilla, had slipped to 12th place due to government apathy.

He stated that of the 134 tests meant to be available, only 95 were being conducted. Essential equipment like the 2D echo machine was lying idle at the DMHO office for lack of specialists, while reagents for sugar tests had to be sourced from Nagarkurnool. Even mandatory thyroid tests for pregnant women were unavailable due to a non-functioning machine.
