Hyderabad: IIM Kozhikode Director Prof Debashis Chatterjee opined that the ancient India Universities such as Takshashila were based on philosophical and religious traditions.
Delivering the 15th Foundation Day lecture on ‘Globalising Indian Thoughts: Insights from Leadership Chronicles’ recently organised by the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education here, Prof Chatterjee said no device can replicate the existential reality nor it cannot be programmed.
“Our education is rooted in this whole journey of who’s this individual that’s pursuing this learning and for what purpose, it needs a new narrative,” he said.
According to Prof Chatterjee, Indian thought becomes even more relevant in contemporary India as the country moves from consumption to innovation.
ICFAI Chancellor Dr C Rangarajan said it was important to identify the ancient Indian knowledge that was relevant in the modern age.
Vice Chancellor Dr LS Ganesh said the foundation of Indian Thought was on the motto of ‘Satyameva Jayate’. He encouraged students to give equal importance to both inside-the-class learning and outside-the-class learning.
