Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao stated that for the first time since independence, the Congress has no Muslim representatives in the Cabinet or the government. He hoped that sense prevails in the Congress high command and a Muslim is included in the next Cabinet expansion.
Speaking at an Iftar gathering at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Rama Rao asserted that the people of the State are eagerly awaiting the return of BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, in less than 15 months into the Congress rule. He said the BRS had an inclusive government, with Chandrashekhar Rao treating everyone equally, ensuring that government schemes benefited all, regardless of religion or caste.
“He introduced Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi for brides of all religions and gifted sarees for all major festivals – Bathukamma, Ramzan and Christmas, respecting the Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb of Telangana,” he said, adding that minorities’ development were taken up by providing them access to quality education through welfare schools, fee reimbursement and overseas scholarships.
The BRS working president criticised the Congress government for neglecting minority welfare. He demanded that Congress fulfill its electoral promises, including one tola gold for brides and setting up the Minority Corporation. He warned that BRS would launch a fight on behalf of the people if these promises were not implemented.
