Hyderabad: The Commissionerate of Intermediate Education (CIE) on Saturday clarified that a memo issued on Friday was only a query to identify demand, if any, for the requirement of introducing Sanskrit as a second language in government junior colleges, and that it was not an order to start a new second language (Sanskrit).
A request was received from Telangana Sanskrit Lecturers Association, Telangana Sanskrit Research Scholars and students association.
“Based on this, a memo was issued requesting principals of government junior colleges to identify the demand for requirement of introducing Sanskrit as a second language. This should not be seen as an instruction to start Sanskrit as a second language in government junior colleges. All concerned are being informed accordingly,” the CIE said in a clarification.
Introduction of any language and sanction of junior lecturer posts require sanction of competent authority, after due process, it added.
