Collector Koya Sree Harsha addressing press conference in MCHC, Peddapalli on Tuesday.
Peddapalli: Collector Koya Sree Harsha informed that the number of deliveries in Mother and Child Health Center had gone up in the recent past, with a record number of 203 deliveries registered in September alone. Besides deliveries, 39 major orthopedic surgeries were also done in the district hospital.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Collector informed that 130 deliveries were done in MCHC during the last six months. However, there was a spurt in the number of deliveries in August and September months. While 190 deliveries were done in August, 203 took place in September, he informed and appreciated the superintendent, doctors and staff. The number of deliveries in government hospitals was being increased by tracking pregnant women who are under the limits of different primary health centres and shifting them to government hospitals in ‘102’ ambulances by attaching them to ASHA workers and ANMs.
Scanning and other tests required for pregnant women were being done free of cost. In the wake of heavy rush in the out-patient wing, a separate reception centre was set up for pregnant women. Besides gynecology services, steps were also being taken to strengthen other departments of the hospital. Because of the measures taken in the Orthopedic department, 39 major surgeries were done in September, he said.
Informing that eight doctors had recently joined the hospital, the Collector said there was an adequate number of doctors in every department.
