Sangareddy: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has deputed a team of officials, led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chandrasekhar Hota and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Pritish Panda, to reach out to workers from Odisha who were affected in the accident at Sigachi Chloro Chemicals Private Limited.

The team arrived at the Pashamylaram Industrial Area on Wednesday and interacted with Sangareddy district officials to gather details about Odisha employees working at Sigachi.

Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, ASP Chandrasekhar said four workers from Odisha died, while four others sustained serious injuries in the mishap. Two other workers remain untraceable. Since several Odisha workers were deployed in different shifts, the team was also engaging with them to assess their condition.

He said Odisha government would extend all possible support, including facilitating the transport of the deceased workers’ bodies to their native places and following up with the Telangana government and Sigachi management for the release of ex gratia to the bereaved families and compensation for the injured.

The ASP assured that efforts were being made to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured.

Given the language barrier, OSD Pritish Panda said they were assisting workers by liaising with the Sigachi management and local officials. He said the team had also briefed their Chief Minister on the situation.
