Hyderabad: The stretch of road behind Gandhi Hospital has become a nightmare for commuters and residents in Padmarao Nagar, as flowing drainage water and slush cover the entire area. The situation is not only dangerous but also worsening, with no signs of resolution in sight.
For the past several days, the stretch had been inundated with wastewater, turning it into a hazardous mess. On the other hand, alleged illegal parking of trucks and construction material vehicles is also adding to the chaos, blocking the road and making it difficult for both pedestrians and vehicles to navigate safely. “It’s an accident waiting to happen,” said a frustrated passerby.
Meanwhile, the civic body workers have been trying to manage the situation by clearing trash being swept along by the drainage water.
However, their efforts appear insufficient, as the situation remains critical. “The cleaning teams are working, but without fixing the drainage, the problem will persist,” said Ravi Kumar, a resident.
To make matters worse, some locals and vendors have been feeding pigeons at the back gate of the hospital, further compounding health concerns. The accumulation of bird droppings amidst the stagnant water raises fears of disease outbreaks. “This is a health hazard waiting to happen,” said another concerned resident, pointing out the increased risk of infections.
Despite the dangerous conditions, there has been little to no intervention from higher authorities, with residents complaining about negligence. “It’s been going on for days, and nobody seems to care,” lamented a shopkeeper near the hospital.
The combination of open drainage, illegal parking, and pigeon feeding has been posing both environmental and public health risks. Residents urge immediate action to prevent further escalation.
