Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is facing sharp criticism for what many describe as political hypocrisy. He was seen attacking the Congress party in Bihar, where Assembly elections are underway, while campaigning for the same party’s candidate in the Jubilee Hills bypoll in Telangana.
In videos circulating on social media, Owaisi is heard accusing the Congress of being a troublemaker in Bihar and labelling it as the RSS’s puppet in Telangana. In another video, he was seen extending support and campaigning for the same party in the Jubilee Hills bypoll. Netizens said this apparent contradiction exposed AIMIM’s opportunistic politics aimed at staying relevant across States.

Calling out his double standards, Hyderabad Youth Courage founder Salman Khan termed Owaisi’s changing stance as India’s biggest political stunt, accusing him of confusing the very electorate he claims to represent. “Bihar main Congress ko gaaliyan aur Telangana main jisko RSS ka Tillu kahte the, usi Congress ko samarthan. Kya yahi Muslim leadership hai? (You abuse Congress in Bihar and support the same in Telangana. Is this Muslim leadership?)” he questioned.
The controversy has also sparked a debate over AIMIM’s long-term strategy in Telangana politics. Analysts note that by aligning with the Congress in Jubilee Hills, Owaisi risks alienating a section of his traditional support base, which has historically viewed the Congress with suspicion. As campaigning intensifies ahead of the bypoll, Owaisi’s mixed messaging has raised questions over AIMIM’s credibility as an independent political force.
