Palla Rajeshwar Reddy heading for cake-walk victory
Support poured in for Palla Rajeshwar Reddy from different sections of voters since he is a familiar figure not only among educationist but also the general public
Nalgonda: For Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, contesting for a second term from Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Legislative Council constituency, victory seems to be a cakewalk in the March 14 polls.
During his two-month extensive campaign, Rajeshwar Reddy met graduates, teachers and employees in all the three district in a series of meetings. Support poured in for him from different sections of voters since he is a familiar figure not only among educationist but also the general public.
Since Rajeshwar Reddy was a students’ union leader during colleged days and had participated in Telangana agitation, he has extensive relations with different organisations in erstwhile Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda districts.
The KG to PG Educational Institutions Management Association, Brahman Seva Sangam, IKP workers union, Velama graduates association, TS-PRTU and employees unions have already held meetings in Nalgonda and other districts to express their support to Rajeshwar Reddy in the elections.
Out of total 4,91,396 graduate voters, tribals constitute a significant percentage, and they are expected to sail with the TRS candidate particularly since the State government had upgraded their thandas into gram panchayats.
Polling of graduates MLC election would be held in 546 polling station in erstwhile Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda district. Erstwhile Nalgonda district, which comprises of Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri-Bhongir with 1,85,943 graduates voters, is a virtual TRS bastion what with irrigation projects and development works taken up by the State government.
TRS leaders from village to district level have also taken the MLC elections seriously and as a prestige issue, meeting every graduate voter in their area to seek vote for the ruling party candidate.
According to the buzz in political circles, Rajeshwar Reddy, who won the last election with the help of second preference votes, is expected to sail through this time arond on first preference votes. Political analysts say that its advantage Rajeshwar Reddy since Congress candidate Sadavath Ramulu Naik, TJS candidate Prof. Kodadaram and BJP candidate Premender Reddy have hardly been able to make their presence felt in the constituency spread across three district even after filing their nomination papers.
