Warangal: With the objective of bringing like-minded women together and make them a force to reckon with socially and economically besides helping local businesses flourish, Annam Sravanthi, Managing Director (MD) of the JVA Technologies Pvt Ltd, has come up with a novel initiate called ‘Pink Power Circle.’

“The aim of this innovative initiative is to empower women who are the backbone of families and the bedrock of any nation by ensuring special privileges to them when they visit a shop or any other business establishment in Warangal,” Shravanthi told Telangana Today in an exclusive interview. The entrepreneur with the support of her friends and family members launched this new initiative on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on Tuesday.

“We will rope in local business establishments including small Kirana shops and urge them to provide privileges to members of ‘Pink Power Circle’ who are given a special membership card. The privileges will include discounts on purchases and also special treatment to women,” she explained.

Pointing out that many local business establishments were faced with the prospect of pulling down their shutters following the advent of giant supermarket chains and e-commerce platforms, she said that in view of this development, they decided to promote these businesses by encouraging local people to shop with them through ‘Pink Power Circle’ membership.

As a part of this initiative, ‘Pink Power Circle’ will put up display boards in shops and malls that will read ‘We Respect Pink Power’ and thereby supporting local businesses. Our slogan is ‘Vocal for Local,” she said, adding that at least 1,000 members would be given membership cards in the next two to three months. “We want to spread the word in a paced manner so that it can grow stronger over a period of five years,” Sravanthi said, revealing her plans for promotion of ‘Pink Power Circle’ believed to be the the first of its kind initiative not only in Warangal, but across the State.

On Tuesday, ‘Pink Power Circle’ handed over membership cards to women faculty members and others at Chaitanya Deemed to be University (CDU) after the formal unveiling of the card by CDU VC, Prof Gurrapu Damodar. Deans, Prof AS Anuradha, Prof S Kavitha, Prof S Suma and M Padma, Asst Registrar, are among those who joined the ‘Pink Power Circle’.
