Warangal Urban: Police have pressed into service more drone cameras in the city to ensure strict enforcement of the lockdown under the Warangal Police Commissionerate. Following instructions from Warangal Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi, the police started using drones not only on the main roads, but also in all the bylanes of the city to identify vehicles hitting the roads without a valid reason.

As part of this, sophisticated drones mounted with cameras were deployed in the Hanmakonda division to detect vehicles on the roads.

On Thursday, Joshi inspected the activities at the Police Commissionerate office junction and at Mulugu junction and examined the registration numbers of vehicles plying on the roads.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the drones would be able to locate vehicles within a range of about 4 km, and will be able to identify the registration number, making it easier for the police to locate vehicles and impose fines on them. “Use of drones must be done within the limits of each police station, especially during the lockdown times,” he said, adding that vehicles detected by drones should be fined and if necessary be seized.
