Projects in erstwhile Adilabad receive copious inflows

Adilabad: Irrigation projects received copious inflows from upstream areas, following incessant rains lashing in several parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district on Tuesday. Incidentally, several parts of the district registered heavy to moderate rains from Monday night till Tuesday morning.
According to a bulletin released by the authorities concerned, Sripada Yellampalli project at Gudipet village in Hajipur mandal registered 4.14 lakh cusecs of inflow. Surplus water of 4.30 lakh cusecs is being discharged from the project by lifting 40 gates. The total water level reached 18.536 tmc when compared with the storage capacity of 20.175 tmc.
Meanwhile, Gaddennavagu project of Bhainsa mandal centre sees inflow by 87,985 cusecs and outflow of 86,736 cusecs. The project had water level 1.768 tmc as against the storage capacity of 1.852 tmc. Kaddam Narayana Reddy Project in Kaddam mandal had 50,914 cusecs of inflows. The water level reached 6.617 tmc as against the storage capacity of 7.6003 tmc.
Nirmal district recorded an average rainfall of 100 mm. Dilawarpur mandal received the highest rainfall of 182 mm, followed by Kuntala which recorded 172 mm of rainfall. The district witnessed 1,182 mm of rainfall as against the normal rainfall of 845 mm from June 1 to till date, recording an excess rainfall by 40 percent.
Similarly, Adilabad district’s average rainfall was gauged to 65 mm. Neradigonda mandal experienced the highest rainfall of 114 mm, while Bazarhathnoor had 101 mm of rainfall. Boath, Ichoda, Utnoor, Ichoda, Bhela, Adilabad Urban, Adilabad Rural, Indervelli, Tamsi, Talamadugu and Jainad mandals received somewhere between 97 mm and 50 mm of rainfall. The district so far registered 1,179 mm of rainfall as against the normal of 914 mm, suggesting an excess by 29 percent.
Streams and rivulets were flooded by rainwater, affecting normal life in certain remote parts of the district. A stream was overflowing on a low-level bridge at Nakkalawada in Boath mandal of Adilabad district, snapping connectivity of the habitation and surrounding villages with other areas.
