Hanamkonda: Warangal Commissioner of Police Sunpreet Singh on Tuesday inspected ongoing verification drives being carried out by Central Crime Station (CCS) teams at Kazipet Railway Station.
He asked citizens to inform the police if they notice any unidentified or suspicious persons in their surroundings. Warangal Police Commissionerate is implementing special measures to prevent and control crime, with public safety as its highest priority, he said.
The CP noted that police investigations have revealed the involvement of criminals from other States, particularly from northern India, in house burglaries, chain-snatching incidents and other property-related crimes in the city.
Warangal and Kazipet railway stations, being major railway junctions connecting various parts of the country, are often used by offenders to enter the city, commit crimes and subsequently return to their native places through the same rail routes.
To effectively curb such offences, the commissionerate has constituted four special CCS teams, a unique initiative aimed at identifying and preventing the activities of interstate offenders. Two teams each have been deployed at Warangal and Kazipet railway stations working in coordination with Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF).
These special teams closely monitor passengers arriving from different parts of the country, particularly from northern States. The teams collect personal details, fingerprints and photographs, which are then cross-checked using facial recognition systems and national criminal databases maintained by law enforcement agencies, Sunpreet Singh explained.
If any individual being verified has a previous criminal record, the information is instantly detected through the police department’s technical devices and integrated databases. If necessary, police would detain the individual for further investigation.
Additional DCP (Crime) Balaswamy, ACP Sadaiah, GRP DSP Krupakar, CCS Inspector Raghavender, Kazipet Inspector Shyamsunder, GRP Inspector Naresh Kumar and SI Abhinav were present.
