Hyderabad: Five special teams were formed by Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat to identify and nab the assailants who shot dead two realtors on Tuesday.
The two realtors had started in the early hours of Tuesday from their house to reach Ibrahimpatnam. They usually would be accompanied by some persons when they go to the plot, but on Tuesday, for some reason they went alone, family members told the police.
The police found the body of Srinivas Reddy around 300 metres away from where the car was found, while Raghavendra Reddy was found in the car with bleeding wounds and was shifted by locals and the police to a private hospital, where he later died.
The police suspect that both of them were returning in the car after visiting the farm land when the assailants stopped them and opened fire.
“Srinivas Reddy might have been attacked first in the head following which he collapsed and Raghavendra Reddy was shot in the chest but he could have tried to escape in the car before losing control and stopping on roadside,” a police official said.
The police suspect the assailants could be more than two persons and might have escaped from the place on spotting public movement on the road. The police are analyzing the call dump data from mobile phone towers located in the surroundings of the crime spot. The mobile phones of both victims have also been seized and call details records are being analyzed.
The police brought in sniffer dogs to track the assailants, but the exercise did not prove of big help. Teams are also checking surveillance camera footage dating back to several days to find out if anyone was tailing the victims for a few days.
Information on the movement of those involved in ‘supari killings’ in the country too is being gathered. “As of now, it is not clear who might have killed them,” an official said, adding that the police were gathering more information on business dealings and land related transactions of the victims in the recent past and whether they were involved in criminal cases earlier.
