After selection of the location with a secured boundary wall, eight sectors developed with each bed digging up to 0.60 meter depth followed by filling with various layers of rice husk, farmyard manure, cocopeat and jeevamrutham.
Subsequently, planting points are marked at a grid of 0.75M X 0.75M and then species of high canopy – 13 varieties, medium canopy – 18 varieties and low canopy – 23 varieties are planted in these planting points.

Going with its success and the company’s commitment in enriching the environment, NTPC is further expanding the Phase-III at Gautamnagar area with a plantation of around 5 to 10 thousand trees as per availability of land.
The Miyawaki method of afforestation which has revolutionized the concept of urban afforestation by turning backyards into mini-forest has been pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki.
