Republic Day celebrated with fervour across erstwhile Adilabad district
The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour across the erstwhile Adilabad district. Collectors unfurled the Tricolour at district headquarters, highlighted welfare initiatives and development progress, while cultural programmes and tableaux added colour to the celebrations.

Adilabad: Patriotic fervour and gaiety marked the 77th Republic Day celebrations across the erstwhile Adilabad district on Monday.
Collectors Rajarshi Shah, Abhilasha Abhinav, Kumar Deepak and K Haritha unfurled the tricolour at the Integrated District Officers Complexes in the district headquarters of Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad respectively. They paid floral tributes to freedom fighters and those who laid down their lives for the country’s independence. The Superintendents of Police were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Collector Rajarshi Shah said the administration was striving to ensure that every genuine beneficiary received the benefits of welfare schemes while delivering people-centric governance. He said four key schemes were launched in the district and 35,326 ration cards were issued to new beneficiaries. He stated that the district received 15,876 Indiramma houses, while 2.58 crore women availed the free bus travel scheme.
Meanwhile, Collector Kumar Deepak said steps were being taken to effectively implement welfare schemes and promote development on multiple fronts. He read out the district’s progress report and detailed the number of beneficiaries covered under various government initiatives. He said 1.28 lakh consumers benefited under the Griha Jyothi scheme at a cost of Rs.95 crore, while 64,452 farmers received crop loan waiver amounting to Rs.540 crore.
Cultural programmes presented by school students and skits enthralled the audience. Tableaux by various departments highlighted the benefits of welfare schemes and developmental activities. Certificates of appreciation were presented to best-performing officials by the Collectors. A festive mood prevailed across the four districts, with youngsters taking out rallies carrying tricolour flags and raising slogans.
