Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy left for New Delhi on Wednesday night, marking his 56th visit to the national capital in just 23 months since assuming office. His frequent trips to Delhi, highest among Congress Chief Ministers, were averaged to one visit every 12 days.
Officially, Revanth is scheduled to attend a meeting of the US–India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) on Thursday, which aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation through stakeholder dialogues and consultations. The visit also comes ahead of the Indo–US Summit, to be held in Hyderabad on December 8 and 9, as part of the Rising India initiative. The Chief Minister is expected to meet several company representatives in Delhi and invite them to participate in the summit.
However, Revanth’s visit gained political significance as it comes immediately after the Jubilee Hills bypoll and amid speculation about a possible Cabinet reshuffle. Sources suggested that he might meet the party leadership to discuss the long-pending appointment of District Congress Committees (DCCs) and other organisational matters with the AICC leadership.
He is also likely to discuss about the long-pending local body elections and proposals for political party-wise reservations to BCs as plans for 42 per cent reservation have failed. However, the schedule for meetings with the party high command remains unconfirmed.
