Revanth Reddy vows BRS will draw blank in Palamuru
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on his predecessor K Chandrasekhar Rao during a public meeting in Jadcherla, challenging him to a debate on governance.
Mahbubnagar: Use of unrestrained language has apparently become a new normal for the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Vitriolic outpouring punctuated with derogatory epithets to describe his detractors was very much evident in his speech at a public meeting in Jadcherla on Friday.
The target of the intemperate outbursts was the BRS supremo and his predecessor K Chandrashekhar Rao, whom Revanth Reddy challenged for a discussion on his thirty months of rule compared to the ten year rule of KCR. While political challenges are not very uncommon, the venomous attack on KCR left even seasoned Congress leaders and workers squirming in their seats.
“If I fail in the debate, I will apologise. But if KCR loses, he should remain confined to his farmhouse or even die. Nobody will bother,” he thundered. He sought to list his government’s achievements claiming to have filled up 67,616 government jobs and spent Rs. 27,000 crore for Rythu Bharosa scheme while brushing the protests of unemployed youth and farmers all over the state under the carpet.
Then he turned his ire on the BRS vowing not to allow it to rise in Palamuru. Akin to the curses heaped by those who feel helpless, he said he would not let the BRS flag not fly and that the party symbol and its MLAs will become a thing of the past.
“Not even one MLA will be allowed to win in future,” Revanth Reddy fumed.
The CM apparently was rattled by the BRS leaders’ call on May 15 that a padayatra would be organised to the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) to highlight the negligence of the Congress government in execution of the project works.
Since then, the Congress government swung into action. Revanth Reddy, along with Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, inspected the PRLIS, Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme and other projects in the Palamuru region over the last two days.
“Leave aside a padayatra to PRLIS, even if BRS leaders perform prostrations in Kashi, their sins will not be cleansed,”
It was not just the BRS that was the target, but also the Maharashtra government. Revanth Reddy berated his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis for not giving him an appointment to discuss the Tummidihatti project. We will force him to discuss the issue though he is playing hide and seek and running away from discussions.
He demanded that the Telangana BJP leaders arrange a meeting with the Maharashtra Chief Minister. They could not evade their responsibility and if they did, people would one day chase them, he warned.
On his attempts to reach an understanding on irrigation projects with his political guru, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, the Telangana CM accused K Chandrashekhar Rao of creating hurdles whenever attempts were made to hold talks with Andhra Pradesh on River Krishna water sharing.
“Without talks, how can issues be resolved? I will secure an NOC for 90 tmcft for PRLIS by December and 20 to 30 tmcft for the Dindi project by exerting pressure on Andhra Pradesh,” the Chief Minister asserted.
