HYDERABAD: Even as the Congress government makes tall claims over crop loan waiver and extending Rs 500 bonus to paddy farmers, many ryots continue to protest over poor implementation of the schemes.
Thota Yadagiri, a farmer from Tungaturthy Assembly constituency from Nalgonda, staged a protest at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, demanding an explanation from the government over failing to waive his crop loan.
A video of the farmer staging protest at the Congress headquarters is going viral on social platforms.
In the video, Yadagiri is seen saying that he has a crop loan of Rs 3 lakh and the government had not waived his crop loan. “Not just me, many farmers crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh are yet to be waived. The Government has to waive such loans immediately, ” demanded Yadagiri.
The farmer also said he had sold 55 quintals of paddy and as promised by the Congress government, Rs 500 bonus was to be offered for fine rice variety.
“But till date, I have not received the bonus from the government,” Yadagiri complained.
He also said the government was not extending old age pension. “My crop loan is not waived, Rs 500 bonus is not received so far and there is no pension as well,” Yadagiri said.
The farmer even said that he had to pay Rs 25 lakh for son’s Covid treatment and accordingly he could not clear the crop loan.
“I will stay put here till loan is waived. If my complaints are wrong, let government put me in jail, I am prepared for the worst,” Yadagiri said, asking Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy as to why the government was not paying Rs 500 bonus, waiving crop loans of the farmers.
