Bulls colourfully decorated to attract buyers at the cattle fair at
Nyalkal mandal in Sangareddy district on Sunday.
Sangareddy: In one of the largest cattle fair organised during the week-long Urs-e-Shareef celebrations at Hazrat Peer Garib Saheb Kabli Dargah near Nyalkal mandal headquarters, thousands of cattle were put up for sale by their owners from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana on Sunday.
Some of the cattle attracted a huge price at the fair. A farmer named Yadagiri sold a pair of oxen for Rs 1.58 lakh while another farmer sold his only bull for Rs 1.10 lakh. To attract buyers, farmers decorated their bulls, cows and buffaloes colourfully. Bagaiah, a farmer from Bijilapur village of Vatpally mandal, bought a single bull at a cost of Rs 1.10 lakh, while another farmer Dattu from Kollur village of Jharasangam mandal bought a pair of oxen at a cost of Rs 1.40 lakh.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Bhagaiah said farmers from across Telangana visit this cattle fair to find the best bulls, cows, buffaloes and other breeds during the fair. Stating that cattle-lovers make a visit to the fair to see the variety of breeds of bovines during the Urs celebrations, Bhagaiah said they take pride in buying massive bulls during the market.
Another farmer Sripal Reddy put up his bull and a milch buffalo for sale at Rs 1.6 lakh price but did not find buyers immediately. In memory of farmers Adavappa and Girijamma, the organisers of the cattle fair also gave away prizes to best cattle-rearers at a function on Sunday evening.
