SCCL’s Srirampur and Mandamarri Areas see dip in coal output in December

Mancherial: Despite efforts and incentives, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Srirampur and Mandamarri Areas registered a significant dip in coal production in the month of December, causing concern among officials.

Officials of the State-owned SCCL said the Srirampur Area recorded 3.34 lakh metric tonnes of coal output against a target of 5.90 lakh metric tonnes set for the month, achieving 57 percent. While opencast projects recorded 95 percent achievement, underground mines achieved only 46 percent of the target in December. They said a delay in removing overburden resulted in a considerable decline in coal output at the projects and mines.

Similarly, the Mandamarri Area recorded 1.97 lakh metric tonnes of coal production against a target of 2.57 lakh metric tonnes, achieving 77 percent of the target. The KK5 underground mine recorded 103 percent of the target, while KK OCP and Kasipet underground mine recorded 79 percent and 65 percent of the monthly target respectively. Coal mining remained stalled at the Shantikhani underground mine for two months.

Meanwhile, the Goleti Area, formerly known as Bellampalli, recorded 3.92 lakh metric tonnes of coal production, achieving 112 percent of the monthly target.
