Hyderabad: SWAN (Save Water and Nature), under the leadership of Founder Meghana Musunuri and General Secretary Sridhar Vunnam, in collaboration with Youth for Seva, represented by Hyderabad VM Goutham Cheripalli, Fountainhead Global School, and Medak District Forest Officer M Joji, and Forest Range Officer, Narsapur, Divya, conducted a Forest Road Area Cleanup Drive at Narsapur Forest to promote environmental awareness and responsible conservation practices.
The initiative was undertaken to address the growing issue of plastic waste accumulation caused by irresponsible disposal of food covers and bottles by visitors feeding monkeys along the forest road.
This has become a serious concern as discarded plastic not only pollutes the forest ecosystem but also creates hazards for motorists, with plastic waste often flying onto vehicle windshields and causing dangerous distractions and accidents.
Students, volunteers, and forest officials joined hands to clean the area and spread awareness on responsible environmental practices in eco-sensitive zones. The organizers emphasised that feeding wildlife irresponsibly harms nature, while keeping forests clean protects both animals and people.
The team urged the visitors to avoid littering, refrain from feeding monkeys packaged food, and support the preservation of Narsapur Forest for future generations.
