A private double-decker bus from Gorakhpur to Delhi overturned on the Lucknow-Ayodhya highway in Barabanki late Wednesday, injuring 30 passengers. Two critically injured were transferred to a district hospital. Officials blamed heavy rain and slippery roads for the accident.
The state transport body-owned bus was taking 75 passengers from the southern pilgrim site of Kataragama to the northwest town of Kurunegala when it went down 100 meters off the cliff, police said
The accident took place at 4.30 am on NH 44 at Jamdapur village in Adilabad Rural mandal. The bus was proceeding to Hyderabad from Nagpur at the time of the mishap.

The bus was heading towards Sangareddy from Narayankhed when the incident occurred. Since the bus was going at high speed at the time of the mishap, several passengers sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the area hospital in Jogipet for treatment. The police registered a case.
