The Telangana government has prohibited the dumping of construction and demolition waste in open areas, drains, and public places within GHMC, CMC, and MMC limits. A government order warned that violators will face penal action, stressing strict adherence to C&D Waste Management Rules to prevent environmental damage and urban flooding.
The GHMC has intensified its special mega sanitation drive across 300 wards, covering 6,255 locations. As part of the drive, nearly 9,840 metric tonnes of garbage and construction waste were cleared under close supervision of senior officials
The GHMC sanitation wing has removed over 7,000 tonnes of waste, including construction debris, as part of a special sanitation programme. Students were also educated on waste segregation to support Hyderabad’s transformation into a cleaner city.
The GHMC has completed a 15-day sanitation programme across 300 wards, covering 3,209 areas including junctions, foot overbridges, flyovers, garbage-vulnerable points and parks. Officials reported the removal of 5,209 metric tons of additional waste, including 1,339 metric tonnes of construction debris.
Soon, a large-scale and meticulous effort to remove the construction waste and restore the structure was launched, which resulted in the removal of tonnes of debris from the well.
