As many as 730 doctors have succumbed to coronavirus infection during the second wave, according to data available by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in mid-June.

It termed "extremely disturbing" a series of violence against doctors in the last two weeks in Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and other places.

The second wave of coronavirus pandemic across the country is not over yet. This is the reason doctors are losing their lives every day while saving the lives of Covid-infected patients.

Instructs to charge rates fixed by State govt for Covid treatment

IMA district president Dr M Vasanth Rao informed that the second variant of Covid-19 was very dangerous and rampant in the district as well as in the state.

The IMA also suggested that private sector family clinics should be included actively in the vaccination drive along with private hospitals.

They later staged a demonstration following the call given by IMA national body opposing the mixopathy and demanding the Union government to withdraw the recent CCIM notification. 

Doctors held posters reading ‘Roll Back AYUSH Bill on Mixopathy’ and ‘Say No To Mixopathy’ within the campus of Gandhi and Osmania medical colleges.

Dr. N Subramanyam noted that the unchecked fee structure for the private medical colleges was another curse to the medical students and children of lower economic status cannot dream of becoming a doctor

The association has planned to raise money by donations from its members and the public, including the registered institutions.
