Special Chief Secretary for Irrigation Rajat Kumar reiterated that the Telangana government had sought discussion on revision of the water sharing ratio of Krishna River for the current water year.
Telangana has also decided to call for cancellation of the three-member meeting of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) on July 9 and instead, seek a meeting with entire board on July 20
CM KCR said as promised by him during the Telangana movement, he had laid foundation stone for 13 LISs to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2,500 crore providing irrigation facility for an additional ayacut of 1.3 lakh acres.
Tribunal is expected to take up arguments on project-wise allocations on Krishna river and also look for possible ways of allocation when the quantum of water available in the river basin is less
Irked by the baseless allegations on Telangana with regard to sharing of river water in its letter to the KRMB and GRMB, Chandrashekhar Rao decided to effectively counter the sibling State’s overtures by tabling complete and true information at the ensuing Apex Council meeting putting an end to the claims of the neighbouring State.
The 14-page DO letter signed by the Chief Minister was sent to the Centre on Friday night, ahead of the proposed Apex Council second meeting slated to be held on Tuesday.
