Earlier, three Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattishgarh's Kanker district on February 25.

Kanker SP Indira Kalyan Elesela stated that police, along with BSF and SSB, conducted a joint operation in the Koyalibeda area. The operation resulted in an encounter in which 3 Naxals were killed and 3 guns were recovered.

The face-off took place around 8 am on a hill between Bhomra-Hurtarai villages under the Koyalibeda police station area, where a joint team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxalite operation, Kanker Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela said.

The firefight broke out between the outlaws and a joint team of the District Reserve Group (DRG) of Sukma and Dantewada districts and the 2nd and 111th Battalion of the CRPF.
