Speaking to the media here, Sukender Reddy said the State government had declared a crop holiday for the ayacut of the left canal of Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) for the Yasangi crop season due to the drastically dip in water levels in the project.
The normal area of cultivation of paddy was 3.8 lakh acres under the left canal of NSP, but paddy cultivation was reduced to 75,000 acres this Yasangi crop season.
In a flood warning message, Superintendent Engineer of NSP K Dharma said that inflow to NSP was increased to over five lakhs cusecs and radial crest gates probably operated within three days

The water level in the project reached 589.60 feet as against Full Reservoir Level of 590 feet. The present storage of water in the project is 312.04 TMCs as against gross storage capacity of 310.84 TMCs.
