With pedestrians accounting for 23% of total deaths in road accidents, traffic police are taking fresh initiatives

The police are identifying places where there are rampant incidents of wrong side driving with special teams to take up drives and awareness campaigns in those areas

The move is aimed at giving the municipality an image makeover that is expected to be completed in a couple of months.

A total of 237 people died in accidents in the city, of which around 120 people died due to head injuries after falling from motorcycles/scooters
