Akshay Shinde, 23, a contract sweeper at the school, was arrested on August 17 and held in police custody for three days, ending on Wednesday. He faces charges under various laws, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, for the grievous crimes committed against two girls, aged 4 and 6, in the school toilet on August 12-13. The incident has triggered a state-wide outcry.
The police reported that the accused, Pramod Sardar, displayed obscene videos on his mobile phone before inappropriately touching students. The incident occurred at the Zilla Parishad school in Kazikheda village, 40 km from the city. The situation came to light when one of the victims called the 1098 child helpline, prompting an investigation by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
A minor girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by a 30-year-old man in Shamshabad on the city outskirts. The victim was lured by the suspect on the pretext of marriage and was sexually assaulted multiple times.
