Telangana Assembly: BRS demands details of financial assistance under crop loan waiver, other schemes
As the Treasury benches were boasting about effective implementation of several welfare and development programmes in the State, BRS MLAs exposed the failures with facts and figures in the Assembly
Hyderabad: Exposing the shallowness of the State government over its promises, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) demanded the Congress benches to share all details, especially the balance component of the crop loan waiver for farmers, Rythu Bharosa assistance, bonus to paddy farmers and other programmes.
As the Treasury benches were boasting about effective implementation of several welfare and development programmes in the State, BRS MLAs exposed the failures with facts and figures in the Assembly.
Speaking on the motion of thanks on the Governor’s speech in the House on Saturday, BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy challenged the Congress government to share details of any village in which the crop loan waiver scheme was implemented in totol.
“There are 127 villages in my constituency and 50 percent of farmers have not got the loan waiver. If I am proved wrong, I will tender an unconditional apology and resign,” Rajeshwar Reddy challenged, adding that if not Jangaon constituency, any village in Madhira constituency could be visited to check the crop loan waiver implementation.
The Jangaon MLA said the Governor’s speech was far from truth and lacked direction. The Congress government was transforming the State towards negative growth and was delivering undemocratic governance in the State, he said.
Finding fault with the Congress government for arresting two women journalists, he appealed to the government to release them immediately.
Intervening in his speech, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the Congress respected journalists but personal abuse towards the Chief Minister would not be tolerated.
“I demand that Rajeshwar Reddy withdraw his comments,” he said.
Citing the education department’s circular with an unofficial logo, the BRS MLA demanded the Congress government to rectify the error.
“If the Congress government removes Charminar and Kakatiya Kala Thoranam from official logo, it will be opposed. After the BRS comes to power, the logo will be changed again,” Rajeshwar Reddy said.
As the BRS MLA was listing out the Congress government’s failures in implementation of different schemes, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka intervened and claimed that the crop loan waiver of upto Rs.2 lakh was successfully implemented.
“We are implementing several welfare and development programmes effectively but are not campaigning the good work being done effectively,” Bhatti Vikramarka said.
As the Deputy Chief Minister was sharing crop loan waiver details of different constituencies in the State, Balkonda MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy pointed out that in his constituency, about 51,000 farmers were eligible for the crop loan waiver. Of these, loans of 20,000 farmers were waived but those of nearly 31,000 farmers were yet to be waived, Prashant Reddy said.
He also pointed out the Congress government loan waiver component was much lesser that the loan component waived during the BRS rule in different phases.
“I demand the Congress government to share details of how many farmers were eligible for the crop loan waiver and how many farmers got their loans waived, besides the balance to be waived,” Prashanth Reddy demanded.
In reply to Palla Rajeshwar Reddy’s charge that the Rs.500 bonus had turned bogus and was not being extended to paddy farmers, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy admitted that about Rs.250 crore was to be released under the programme. The funds would be released shortly, he said.
