Hyderabad: Differences among leaders and lack of coordination within the Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to light at a meeting held at the party’s Nampally office here on Sunday.
Several MPs and MLAs reportedly raised objections over the prevailing state of affairs, criticising the functioning of a few district-level leaders and the lack of efforts to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level. They also expressed concern over various internal issues affecting the party’s performance.
The meeting, chaired by State president N Ramchander Rao, was convened to discuss strategies for the upcoming local body elections and the Jubilee Hills bye-election.
Addressing the gathering, Ramchander Rao urged party leaders to work collectively to ensure victory in at least 15 ZPTCs and the Jubilee Hills bye-election.
However, Kamareddy MLA K Venkataramana is learnt to have expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of coordination among MPs and MLAs. He reportedly pointed out that legislators were unable to hold meetings to review organisational matters. Despite plans being finalised for grassroots activities, implementation remained weak, he said, according to reports.
Chevella MP Konda Visveshwar Reddy is also said to have voiced concerns over the functioning of some senior leaders from Rangareddy and Vikarabad districts.
After hearing from the members, the BJP State president assured them that all the issues raised would be addressed soon. “Let us constitute a special committee comprising senior leaders to resolve the issues raised,” Ramchander Rao is learnt to have said.
