The BJP was not against rejuvenation and beautification of Musi river, but razing homes of poor was unacceptable, he said.

“Our party’s stand is to protect the interests of the poor and ordinary citizens who have built their homes over the years along the Musi,”he said.

Stating that the BJP was opposed to the Congress party’s ‘deceit’ and demolition of people’s houses, union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay made it clear that BJP would not allow the demolition of poor’s houses situated in Musi catchment area.

“While the Sabarmati riverfront project cost only Rs. 7,000 crore and Ganga rejuvenation project cost Rs 20,000 crore, the CM’s estimate that the Musi river beautification works would cost Rs 1.5 lakh crore was ‘absurd’,” he said.

Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender said the Congress government was giving sleepless nights to people living along the Musi banks who are under the constant threat of demolition of their houses.
