BRS MLC K Kavitha at a meeting with the leaders of BC organisations and Telangana Jagruthi.
Hyderabad: Leaders of BC organisations and Telangana Jagruthi on Sunday discussed the future course of action to be taken to realise 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes in the local bodies in the State.
They met at BRS MLC K Kavitha‘s residence here in the backdrop of the Cabinet Sub-Committee getting ready to submit the Caste Census report for Cabinet approval.
As per statistics shared by Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, the BC population in the State stands at 46.25 per cent, and the survey, as he claimed, was intended to ensure social justice. The discussions at the meeting were centred around the extent to which reservations for BCs could be increased in local body elections.
Kavitha, who recently led a protest at Indira Park under the banner of Telangana Jagruthi, emphasised the need for at least 42 per cent reservations for BCs. The meeting highlighted the commitment of BC organisations to ensure adequate representation and reservations for BCs in local body elections. The leaders expressed their determination to continue their efforts until their demands are met.
