Will be held for programmes in six conventional universities in the State
Hyderabad: Soon, a Common Entrance Test (CET) will be held for admissions into PhD programmes in six conventional universities in the State. A decision to this effect has been taken during a meeting convened by the authorities of Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) and Commissionerate of Collegiate Education with Vice-Chancellors of six conventional universities on Thursday.
The six conventional universities include Osmania University, Kakatiya University, Telangana University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Palamuru University and Satavahana University. The authorities decided to constitute a committee that will go into modalities of the PhD admissions after examining the present process of selection and University Grants Commission guidelines. So far, each university conducted its own entrance test for admissions into various PhD programmes.
Further, officials decided that Osmania University will conduct the Common Entrance Test for admissions into PG courses of six conventional universities for the academic year 2021-22. The members in the meeting agreed to the proposal of a cluster system for the colleges, courses and material sharing. Accordingly, a committee will be constituted to work out modalities and study the intricacies in transferring the credits and sharing the resources available in the cluster system. Dr BR Ambedkar Open University has offered its e-resources and course material to all the universities.
TSCHE chairman Prof T Papi Reddy, Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Navin Mittal, TSCHE vice-chairman-I Prof R Limbadri, TSCHE vice-chairman-II Prof V Venkata Ramana, TSCHE secretary Dr N Srinivasa Rao and Vice-Chancellors of six conventional universities attended the meeting.
