Telangana DCA raids unlicensed medical shop in Dilsukhnagar, seizes Rs 1.15 lakh worth of medicines
Drug inspectors conducted a raid on Balaji Clinic in Puppalguda, Rangareddy district, which was being run by an unqualified practitioner named Ratan Biswas. According to the DCA, Biswas was practicing allopathic medicine without an MBBS degree. During the raid, inspectors discovered 34 different types of medications and seized stocks valued at Rs 1.85 lakh.

Hyderabad: Drug Control Administration (DCA), Telangana raided a medical shop at P&T Colony, Dilsukhnagar, which was being operated without drug license by Neerkanti Nagesh and seized 19 varieties of medicines including antibiotics, antihistamines, anti-ulcer drugs etc worth Rs 1.15 lakh that were stocked without license for sale.
The drug inspectors also raided Balaji Clinic which was being operated by a quack (unqualified practitioner) identified as Ratan Biswas at Puppalguda, Rangareddy district.
According to DCA, Biswas was practicing allopathic medicine without MBBS qualification and during the raid, 34 varieties of various kinds of medicines were detected and stocks worth Rs 1.85 lakh were seized.
Meanwhile, DG, DCA, Telangana, V B Kamalsan Reddy urged public to avoid purchasing medicines from unlicensed medical shops as being unregulated, they significantly increase the risks to public health.

“It is advisable to purchase medicines only from licensed medical shops, which typically display their drug licenses issued by the DCA, Telangana, at a prominent place in their drug store,” he said adding that selling medicines without a license is considered an offense, and medicines purchased from unlicensed premises are likely to be counterfeit products.
Public can verify whether a medical shop or pharmacy holds a valid license through ‘Third Party Verification’. The name of the pharmacy or medical shop can be entered in the search box provided under the ‘Third Party Verification’ section of the ODLS website at https://odls.telangana.gov.in/ThirdPartypublicview.aspx. This will allow individuals to check whether the medical shop or pharmacy is authorized to sell medicines or not.
