Telangana: Distribution of rice, cash to private teachers from April 20 onwards

Hyderabad: Efforts have begun to identify all the teaching and non-teaching staff working in all recognised private schools, and ensure distribution of 25 kg rice and Rs 2,000 per month each. The district collectors have been directed to use the database of recognised private schools available with the Education department in their respective districts and also take utmost care in identification of the beneficiaries.
Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar held a video conference with the district collectors from BRKR Bhavan on Friday. They thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for responding to the woes of private school teachers on humanitarian grounds. They instructed the officials for a close coordination with each other for effective implementation of the directions of the Chief Minister and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out. The scheme will benefit an estimated 1.45 lakh teaching and non-teaching staff of recognised private schools.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sabitha Reddy said the Education department will send a link to all the districts through which the data of beneficiaries should be uploaded between April 10 and 15. Scrutiny and grievance redressal will be done from April 16 to 19. The promised amount of Rs 2,000 will be deposited directly into the beneficiaries’ bank account during April 20 to 24. Similarly, rice will also be distributed to the beneficiaries through fair price shops during these days, the Minister said and added that this scheme will continue till the schools reopen.
The officials concerned have already prepared an action plan for implementing the programme at a monthly expenditure of Rs 42.57 crore. While about Rs 29 crore will be spent towards providing the cash incentive, another Rs 13.57 crore will be spent towards procurement/distribution of about 3,625 tonnes of rice at the rate of 25 kg for each beneficiary.
BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar informed the district collectors that sufficient stocks are available at all the Mandal Level Stock Point. He wanted the collectors to work out a system for those beneficiaries who do not have a ration card so as to ensure that no genuine beneficiary is left out. He stated that Telangana was the only State in the country to implement such a programme for the benefit of the private school staff.
Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma asked the district collectors to take up an intensive drive to vaccinate all frontline workers in the State during the course of the next four days. Special Chief Secretary Chitra Ramachandran, Principal Secretaries K Ramakrishna Rao, Arvind Kumar and Vikas Raj, Secretaries Rizvi, Sandeep Sultania, Rahul Bojja and other officials attended the video conference.
