Hyderabad: The Joint Action Committee of Telangana Employees, Gazetted Officers, Teachers, Workers and Pensioners (TGEJAC) has decided to conduct lunch-hour demonstrations across the State on April 15 to press for its 68 demands. The committee has decided to launch phased agitations in support of its long-pending demands, especially the implementation of the second PRC from June 2 this year.
This was decided at the committee’s State-level Executive Committee meeting held on Tuesday. Accordingly, it has been announced that employees would stage lunch-hour demonstrations by sporting black badges in mandal offices, District Collectorates and the Secretariat.
The State government had constituted the Pay Revision Committee (PRC) under the chairmanship of retired IAS officer N Siva Sankar on October 2, 2023. Even after 30 months, the PRC has not submitted its report. Employees are demanding that the government obtain the report and implement the second PRC from June 2.
The State government had assured the release of Rs.700 crore monthly towards clearing pending bills of employees. However, about 600 employees are retiring from service, and retirement benefits are also pending. The employees want the government to clear Rs.13,000 crore of pending bills of pensioners.
Stating that many employees and pensioners were facing a lot of difficulties, the TGEJAC demanded that the government frame guidelines for the EHS scheme. They want the benefits to be extended under the scheme from May 1 this year.
Finally, the TGEJAC wants the government to abolish the Contributory Pension Scheme and restore the Old Pension Scheme.
The TGEJAC submitted its memorandum to Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao on Friday, appealing to him to resolve their long-pending demands.
