Hyderabad: The State government is initiating measures for beautification and restoration of the historic Akkanna Sarai in Maheswaram, Ranga Reddy district.
Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud along with Education Minister inspected the Sarai on Monday. The Minister held a review meeting on the measures to be taken for restoration and beautification of Sarai with archaeological department officials.
During the meeting, the Minister said after State formation, Telangana government was according top priority for restoration of historic and heritage structures.
The Minister specifically instructed the officials to take up restoration of the decades-old well on the Sarai premises and put it back to use. “Prepare estimates for restoration of Darbar Hall and temple development. Retain the past glory of Akkanna Sarai,” Srinivas Goud directed the officials.
The Minister also instructed the officials to focus on saving the lands from encroachments. On the elected public representatives’ request to permit setting up of a vegetable market in the open space on the premises, the Minister responded positively.
He instructed the archeological department to permit the vegetable market temporarily and ensure there was no damage or disturbances to the structures.
The Minister along with tourism and sports officials inspected the location for building a stadium in Maheswaram constituency. He also directed the officials to identify locations for boating and tourism development in the constituency.
