Hyderabad: Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday expressed displeasure at officials for failing to act on an earlier order regarding removal of a Ganesh pandal erected without permission in MES Colony, Alwal.
The case was taken up on a contempt petition filed by S. Prabhavathi, an 80-year-old resident, who complained that despite the Court’s direction on August 25 to the SHO, Alwal police station, to consider her representation, no action was taken. She contended that the pandal put up by Bala Ganesh Association continued to obstruct the entrance of her house. The petition was moved as a lunch motion.
During the hearing, the Alwal police informed the Court that no permission had been granted to the association for the installation of the idol and said the task of removal lay with the GHMC. Taking note, the Court suo motu impleaded the GHMC Zonal Commissioner as a party to the proceedings and directed that immediate steps be taken to remove the pandal.
Justice Shravan Kumar made it clear that the petitioner, a senior citizen, could not be left to suffer due to the inaction of the authorities.
