Hyderabad: Taking a jab at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s favourite slogan on Telangana rising, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the State was indeed rising, but in terms of farmer suicides, suicides of Gurukul students, auto drivers and realtors. The State was also rising in crime rate, he said, pointing out that in the 450 days of Congress rule, 450 farmers had ended their lives.
Launching a blistering attack against the Congress party and its leadership, accusing them of poor governance and neglecting the welfare of the people of Telangana, Rama Rao welcomed a host of leaders from Congress and BJP local units of Chevella constituency who joined the BRS in his presence at Telangana Bhavan. Stating that the Congress government neglected crucial projects like the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and was focusing instead on beautification of the Musi River, he highlighted the financial mismanagement under the Congress rule. While the BRS government had allocated a major share of funds for farmers through schemes like Rythu Bandhu and loan waivers, farm loans were also waived ensuring big debt relief for farmers, he pointed out.
He also criticized the Congress for the SLBC tunnel collapse. He took strong exception to one of the Congress Ministers blaming the BRS government for the incident that occurred 15 months after they came to power. He emphasized that the BRS would continue to fight for the people and hold the government accountable for its failures.
Pointing out that the State was facing a water crisis and crops were withering as the government failed to manage its water resources, he rued that the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project was left idle while Rabi crops were withering in the SRSP – Stage II ayacut.
Referring to new AICC in-charge of Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan’s caution sounded to party functionaries against carrying the baggage of the party leaders by undermining their self respect, he pointed out that the person sitting at Gandhi Bhavan next to her a day before was able to scale greater heights in politics just by carrying baggage. He had carried the bags even for N Chandrababu Naidu in the undivided state, he quipped.
